Top 10 things I learned from E.S.C.A.P.E.’s production of Alice In Wonderland.......

Posted by Leesa Veluzat on February 12, 2012 at 10:28pm 10 Comments

10. I have said it before but now more than ever I can say without a doubt that the boys like make up much more than the girls do.

10b. Sam, Blake, Taylor, Anthony, Micah, Michael, Evan and Emily...you all have a future in mime! The white make up loved you!

9. Respect the Costume...If you see a cute costume lady roaming the hallways and she is looking for Dorrie her name is Cissi and she is not lost just tired...just take her to Dorrie. :)

8. If you enter the stage early during a dance number don’t stand there with the “Oh No...we came out too early look” it is best to sway back and fourth and pretend like you know what your doing!

7. Don’t become a victim of the Black Box, time and space still exist .........you are STILL IN A PLAY!!!!!!

6. Some advice that you should always keep with you...When your costume has a tail it is best to move it either to the left or right before sitting down.

5. If Barry turns around during a play and waves his arms in the air like a monkey and is mouthing words you don’t understand it probably means to back up.

4. Some of my favorite lines: “I dodo, I mean I doo-doo” and “Is it three?” “No it’s four, time for tea same as before!” and “Just once I’d like to shut those tulips up!” hahahaha!…

Alice in Wonderland

Posted by Jaclyn Kunkle on February 7, 2012 at 6:53pm 0 Comments

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. Alice in Wonderland was truely one of the most amazing experiances of my life! I learned so much about acting and stage presence. I feel much more confident with my singing, my acting, and my dancing. I want to thank Kyle, Leesa, Barry, Elizabeth, Donna, Dori, Cissi, all volunteers, any ESCAPE members, and all my fellow castmates. They have been great castmates and friends when I needed one. Thank you to Brooke veluzat, my fellow Alice for supporting me and helping me! I love you all and this is truely been a learning experiance and a fun one too. Thank you to everyone for all the compliments and sweet notes. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! That doesn't fully express the emotions I feel towards all of you. Yes, I am doing Joseph(hopefully), and hope to see you there! <3 :) Love you all! ESCAPE is amazing! What we do onstage is miraculous! (: <3

Love,

Jaclyn (Alice)

Alice in Wonderland was so much FUN! I just wanted to thank escape for having me be a part of this drama group and family. Alice in Wonderland was my first play here at escape and it was one of the best things I have ever done with a great bunch of friends! =)

Meet The Directors

Elizabeth and Kyle Burson met 17 years ago during a children's theatre production and with ESCAPE are realizing the fulfillment of a dream. They bring their love of musical theatre, energy, creative passion, and more than 25 years experience to this partnership. Elizabeth and Kyle's goal is to continue to teach children throughout the Santa Clarita Valley, providing quality educational children theatre for the entire family.

Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, with her B.A. in Music. As a classically trained pianist, she has played with several orchestras before turning her talents to the stage. As Musical Director-Pianist-Conductor, her credits include over 100 shows throughout the Southland. Some of her favorite performance credits include Maria in "The Sound of Music", Peter in "Peter Pan", Rizzo in "Grease", and Grace in "Annie". She enjoys spending time with her husband, and four children, and is grateful to have the opportunity to bring her family, teaching skills, and her love for theatre together.

Kyle has been performing since the age of 7. Theatre has always been his outlet for creativity for far too many years to mention. He has performed such roles as Rooster in "Annie", Dentist in "Little Shop of Horrors",Will Parker in "Oklahoma", Michael in "Peter Pan", the Lion in "The Wizard of Oz", and many others. He is the Project Manager for an Entertainment Company and is happy to combine his knowledge both on stage and off to bring a more professional experience for the children.

-- "With a loving and supportive family, anything is possible."
